scirocco mk1...
If not available, I'll go with a german rabbit or mk1 jetta
hold out for one of these

i was in the hunt for a mkI rocco a few months back. they are out there, but getting rarer by the day. they seem to have gone through a renewed interest lately (around ontario anyway) so jump on 'the one' quick if you find it!
i know of a few german rabbits for sale but all are more rusty than i would care to deal with.
i have a mkI jetta i may part with under the right terms. '84 GLI coupe with very nice body.
let me know if you'd like to discuss any of that

Well, there is this very nice 78 rabbit on the Vortex, the guy wants 4800$, I think it's worth it.
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2311015Yes, I know, it's in BC, but one very good looking rabbit none the less.
If somebody can put the picture here, I have a (new) mac and really have no clue about doing it....

From South Carolina (upstate) - I'm absolutely thrilled with it.
I had a bug ~15 years ago, pulled the engine with a swing set and rebuilt it in a shed. Learned a lot. Hoping to learn a lot on this one too - first diesel - etc... Not even sure how to check the oil yet! First things on my agenda are to get a Bently book, change the timing belt and tensioner pully (runs great, but unknown age/mileage on the current one), and send off a working pull injection pump (just won 1 on ebay) for a Giles rebuild. Was planning to pull the motor to put in a sidekick, but its too much fun to drive so keeping car as is. Eventually want to do the WVO thing but need to get familiar with it for a couple of years first. Will probably just lurk around here / read / and absorb for a while.
I just can't believe I'm getting 45MPG for a $650 car. And its fun to drive!

I sold the A1 diesel. Paid 500 for it, parked it in the yard for 2 months than sold it for 1200. I didn't want to see it go, but knew i would find another. Which I did. Its a 1989 with diesel trim, says diesel on the back and on the dash. The odometer says 650k, but I think somthing shorted out and it went crazy. I dont have great pics, but they are pics.

So far I have had to put a new heater core in it(what fun that was), block heater, coolant return line from the heater core to the bottom of the block. It needs a new radiator, and struts. For some reason the AC works, cant belive it but it blows cold air.
