I thought I'd post up some pics of mine, not that recent I'm afraid.

The back (which I still haven't got the new panel for)

The front (the side repeaters are now smoked)

The engine bay.  Still this tatty, but getting there.  Needs the rocker cover gasket sorting, and the oil cooler replacing, the glow plugs changing.... The list goes one.
Still, I upgraded the front brakes to vented disks today, it now has a full GTI interior, and more planned....
There are some beautiful cars in this thread, I really liking the Caddys.  Keep 'em coming!
Cheers,

I have the same mags on my A2 Jetta beater (1.6D).

What size brakes did you put on?

9.4" or you upgraded for bigger?

I'm going to 10.1" (passat brakes here) with 230 mm drums in the rear. :D

Plus a master cylinder from a VR6 B3 passat (with abs, that's going to be fun), it should brake well. :D

Nice GTD Tom, I was initially looking for one - but they are rarer than hobby horse poo.

Rammstein - yes I'm in England, although did visit Ottawa earlier in the year. Canada is a fantastic place, I have family there and would love to emmigrate out there at some point.

Cheers Bri

RAMMSTEIN I'm afraid to say that upgrading the calipers and carriers seemed a little too much like hard work, so I just changed the disks and pads to those from a GTI.  There's not really a noticable difference yet, but the pads are still bedding in, and I haven't tested them under sustained braking yet  :D.  Your setup sounds good, that's going to halt on a sixpence!
Putting in a rear axle from a GTI may also be on the list later, depending on what the scrappy thows up...
bri957cc, thank you.  I have to say that it took me an age to track down a reasonable one.  I could either find one that had been thashed and was cheap, or one that was near perfect (and too expensive).  I went for a tatty one that needed work but was mechanically sound in the end.  The plan is to get it restored, and then think about engine modifications...
Cheers,
Tom

I just scored some rear disks setup (real cheap too... ) from a B3 Passat, so bye bye drums!

Yes, it should brake alright.

When you need to stop, there's nothing like good brakes. :D

Fitted some lower suspension with the help of some friends last week, and also drilled the airbox and removed the filter in the inner wing.

Starting to look a lot better. Really want a westmoreland front grille and lights, are they easy to find over in the US or Canada?

Here are a couple pics of my **UPDATED** '83 Rabbit TD:

Since the last time I posted pictures it has gotten a large duckbill, euro bumpers, smoked corners, and smoked turns in the euro bumps, along with new wheels which I painted black and polished the lips.

Tuning still to come.  My son keeps trying to talk me into it since I have an intercooler ready to go on someday.

Here are some pics of my MK2 (A2) GTD

Its the rare Montana Green (55 made), late 1991. Its been mildly modded by the previous few owners, but just cosmetics.

130,000 miles
1.6TD (SB engine code)
50mm (ish) drop kit
15" G60 Steels
Dealer fitted optional Big Bumpers

The previous owner fitted a complete G60 Syncro interior along with electric rear windows. Which is very firm still!

Here are a few pics of the car when i picked it up:

Here is what it looks like now:

It's coming off the road in January for a load of work to be done on it :- new oil cooler and system flush, oil filter, fuel filter, new starter, new alternator, performance air filter with drilled airbox, performance clutch, performance exhaust system.

The bodywork should get a few marks taken care of too - needs new bumpers and i've got a complete 90-spec 16v arch kit to go on it along with a new set of 7.5x16 brock B6's

And after that the plans inc:-

Better Headunit & Speakers
Power Steering
air con
electric sunroof
headlight washers

and a few other bits and pieces
