Maybe I should take the TD out from Audi and put it in Scirocco. Wouldn´t that be cool 8)

Audi80, very nice rocco.

The main difference with mine are the front fenders and flashers, you've got the rare ones...

I'm presently polishing up a G60 cast valve cover and bending up a new stainless turbo oil feedline to add a little class. An intercooler is next.

Jake,

I thought I'd lost touch with you forever.  ;)  I'm glad to have stumbled across this site.  Now I can put your link back on my site's page (BTW, link to my site has changed to StealthTDI.com... your site features an OLD link).  We'll have to talk autocross again.  I'm now in FSP due to the boost rule change.

Anyway, I couldn't find a Welcome Area or another way to say HELLO and introduce myself and my car.  So here I am.  :)  It's not an IDI; nor is it an A1/A2.  But it has A2 wheels: ;)

The car has 202,000-miles on it and climbing every day.  I run it like a dawg and work it like a slave:

Here's an 8-MB VIDEO (right-click, save-as) of the car autocrossing last year for those interested.

Yes, I love my car!  I'm considering a turbo upgrade... ongoing research.  But, for now, I'm going to stick with the stock turbo to maintain my SCCA-FSP eligibility.

Take Care,

Scott

Cool video. I see you have an AMSOIL magnetic sign on the car. Do you run AMSOIL?  How do you like it?

Hi,

I like the Amsoil well enough.  I'm not a loyal fan.  I get it at cost from Lube-Direct.  Otherwise, I'd likely use the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV (or whatever it's called).  I've used Amsoil's 15W40 and 10W40, both of which run a little quieter than Delvac 1 5W40.  I'm currently using their "European Car" formula in 5W40.  It seems to do well enough.

I tried their Series 3000 tranmission oil (??? blue fluid) and was unimpressed.  I think it was actually worse than the stock stuff with 100,000-miles on it.  I switched to Redline MTL about 50,000-miles ago.  WOW!  Big difference!  I'm hooked.

In short, Amsoil's good in the engine, I prefer Redline in the tranny.

Take Care,

Scott

That's interesting on the gear oil. It explains why Amsoil came out with there MTG manual transmission gear oil. A 75w-90 GL-4 only rated oil.  The series 2K gear oil was only made for differentials and not transmissions. They must have gotten a ton of complaints so they developed the MTG line of oil.  That is going into my transmission next. I currently have Redline in it now and it still is notchy, at least to me it seems that way, not as smooth as it could be.

I haven't tried the engine oil yet. I just now have 13k on the engine and wanted to make sure it was well broken in before I switched over to synthetic.

Getting Amsoil at cost is great.

Where do you run at?  I would like to do that but with the family and being in the Air Force, my spare time is limited.

Thanks for the info.

Welcome Scott!  Glad to see you've found the GTD board!  :)

Would love to talk autocross anytime!  I've got some work on my Rabbit to get it back to race ready.  I really feel the urge now to get back into the game with the street prepared rules allowing opened up boost pressure. :P  Your Jetta is looking very nice and clean by the way!

Eh Scott, wassup?

You've got nice Castelets, 14 inches right (since you say it's from an A2)?

I've got yet another car: 1992 Jetta swapped with a 1985 1.6 NA.

As a beater, it's alright.

I think I've got the ACH transmission, at 100 kph, it revs 3300 rpm... :?

I think I'll change the fifth gear eventually.

No pictures, so far, maybe in 2 weeks, I'm moving to a new place with internet (finally! :D ).

Here's a nice pic of the ground after a cold winter's start-up. Unfortunately, that car's been impounded.

Are those hubcaps rare or what?

My Rabbit has awoken from her long Winter slumber. :) Some VW buddies came over last weekend and helped replace front control arms and ball joints and my b/f fixed some small rusties on the fenders and touched up the paint, put on the new wheels and here she is :D
