1MK1 Caddy 1.9TD AAZ Swap. Complete guide with Videos and Part numbers
This Post is still unfinished but will be updated until it is. I just wanted to get it out there for everyone who has expressed so much interest in it.
The masses have spoken; you want to see a Mk1 AAZ swap and see it fully documented. So, not to let you down I am going to do an AAZ swap in a caddy, a camo caddy at that. I have an AHU swap in a caddy of mine lined up after this one is finished.
The owner of this truck is a customer of mine who has several MK1s. The headgasket in this one has blown and is pushing coolant out the front of the block around cylinder 1 but still ran half descent. He asked me about putting another motor in the truck and it was on. This page is going to hold the whole build process and will be updated as the project progresses. If you have any tips or info to add to this post feel free to leave it in the comments section and we will add it to this resource. It is my goal to make this ‘the’ AAZ into MK1 resource in time so I will keep adding to this page. So keep in mind it is a work in process.
All projects must start with removing the old motor so that the swap process can start. This video details the engine removal process in a diesel MK1. If you have a gasser the process will differ a little but just regarding the fuel system.
