Yep, a 1.6 with a VNT is different off the line, The longer stroke gives it more torque down low.I wonder if the high RPM miss is a fuel supply issue. Maybe there is a slight restriction in the fuel line that only shows up at higher demand. Do you have a dash-mounted vacuum gauge hooked up to the fuel line? If that's the problem, maybe a small fuel pump would help at high RPMs.

are you un-aware that a us-spec VNT has a manifold cast right onto the turbo? there is no need for a manifold. it already has one. it is a turbo off a 01 ALH tdi engine. it is indeed the turbo off the 1.5 engine. most of the turbo setup is.
