What code is the engine?

Mine is JK, has a 17mm crank bolt and 12mm headbolts. I think it also says 1.6D on the block.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

79rabbit4dr posted pix of some headbolts in a thread - in FAQ.
Think it is thread about "why do i need expensive head studs in my 11mm block"

11mm gas bolts with tripsquare
11mm diesel bolts with tripsquare
12mm diesel bolts with trips

16D (11) and 1.6D (12) are supposed to be general clues - but maybe not coffin nailing fact.

17mm (11) vs. 19mm (12) is supposed to be coffin nailer.
But i guess ANYTHING can be changed on these cars/engines by now.

And too, maybe we (the general forums of enthusiasts) don't know as much as we had hoped we knew.

Very true.......I'll double check on the crank bolt but I know I've got 12mm headbolts

is it a rabbit requirement for them to always have broken reverse lights? none of my rabbits have ever had both lenses completely intact..
