i have a 1.6td engine in my vw caddy, engine code 1v. i have been told the 1.9td head is better to have. in my local scrapyard there is a seat cordoba estate with a 1.9 tdi engine.. however it is a manual fuel injection?
will this fit my engine?
not sure on the engine code as i couldnt see it, but its either 1z/AHU if its the 90bhp or AFN/AVG if its 110 bhp..
all info is appreciated

in other words, if its a TDI, then the head will not even come close to working on a 1.6.

the rocker cover and head looked pretty much the same as my 1.6 td, but if you look here..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_C%C3%B3rdoba
and scroll down to the table, its the seat cordoba estate (vario) and it lists that as a tdi?
Remember, Wikipedia is not pure fact, but the impressions of the author of any given definition. A detail like this could easily be wrong on Wikipedia.
The question is, the injection pump - is it simply mechanical ? With your valve covers looking the same, I doubt it could be a TDI.

i have never heard anyone talk about a mechanical mk2 VW tdi. that engine would be worth its weight in gold. people wouldnt have to build an M-TDI anymore. and besides, VW mk2's were only made until late 92. they didnt even start producing the TDI until like 96 or 97? and that is late mk3 and mk4 territory there. are you sure you arent dealing with an AAZ?
