the rocker cover and head looked pretty much the same as my 1.6 td, but if you look here..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_C%C3%B3rdobaand scroll down to the table, its the seat cordoba estate (vario) and it lists that as a tdi?
I recall first gen TDi's were mechanical in the mkiii...
