It sure is :)  Not too many of them, but it might make a nice family hauler for me (if the orphan status doesn't leave me stranded haha).

Holy frig!

I think I can pick out some NS inspection stickers on the windshields.....is that car in NS? I know you are in Greenwood and with the air force base there, I wonder is this a German model someone brought back after a posting to Germany. Cool project and I hope it works for you. Keep us posted.

Any VWs in that yard?

I'd have to ask my friend who works at the yard, I bet there are a few VW's.  It is definately an import since he said it says 324td under the hood, if I am not mistaken we only ever got the 524td in 86-87 and that body style/chassis of the 324td is an e30 made from 87-91.  My friend is in the process of negotiating with his boss for me.  It will likely take a few dollars to get to safety etc, but it should be interesting.  My father in law has a wrecked 1987 325 in Ontario witha  full leather interior etc, so if I can and this works out I will tear everything I can out of it and install it into this car...eventually.  I feel like little school girl and really really hope things work out as planned.

Aside form the bump in the rear, it looks like it is in good shape, so safety might not be that bad. And it sounds like you have a source for some body/interior parts.

Hopefully the guy is reasonable and you get your project car real soon.

Keep us posted.

I know your Golf can tow a trailer (I've seen the pics) but it won't haul my 23' travel trailer, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass.

But if I hear of anyone in the market, I'll send them your way. Most people I know want the 5-speeds.

I wouldn't tow more than about 2200lbs with the Golf, even with the tranny cooler it has :)
Yeah the 5spds are what most people want, but my wife insisted on an automatic for her :(  It still gets great mileage though and goes like a banshee

The bumpers tell me she's an import and a pre-88 car at that. While not a particularly rare car anywhere else... it might be one of the only ones on this continent.

Thanks to the common body and the engine being available here there shouldn't be a high degree of difficulty sourcing maintinence parts. A lot of BMW specific retailers also stock import parts because of the high levels of grey market cars here.

Your biggest trouble will be sourcing the technically proper rear bumper. Small european steel bumpers for early E30s aren't easy to come by... especially one end at a time.

Yes, I'm not sure what will be done there, it may end up slightly bastardized :(
