« Reply #105 on: November 04, 2007, 02:23:43 pm »
heres more shots from the body shop,
i'm not sure that any progress has been made.
he did mention hes retiring in 2.5 years, at the rate he works you might have to find someone else to finish it after hes retired.

at least i was having fun while i was out that way

Nice, thanks Nate.

It doesn't look like there is any progress. At least I'm learning how to Braze and whatnot in school.

Did you make it to the top?

That looks much better. The other one still looks too much like an artificial reef.

nah, that hill is actually quite a bit steeper then it looks in the pic, the engine kept getting flooded and i had to roll back down and restart. i think i could do it if i went a few more times with a better run at it.

that truck looks pretty nice, a few steps up from what you usually buy.
gone are the days of hundred dollar cars?

Wow Tyler, that new caddy looks great. What would you do with the other one if you bought this one? Add it to the garage sale list?

Nate, those Chevettes were tough old cars. Nice to see you're enjoying yours to the fullest.

Since I don't have a garage and unlimited shop time I need something a bit better then my other cars.  Hundred dollar caddys don't get you much anyways.

I'd probably use one Caddy as a daily and the other as a project/fun one.

so after a frustrating Christmas eve (5pm until 3am) doing a headgasket job on a TD I've decided to change engine plans. I'm going with a good old fashioned 1.6 NA :D Hence the for sale post in the classifieds

The problem was I was borrowing a friends garage so I didn't have my engine hoist there. The head with the turbo and manifolds if frickin heavy when you are leaning over trying to get it put in place and the stupid turbo oil drain line wouldn't go where it needed to go. Also the headgasket was moving all over the place. If someone was helping me or I had my hoist it would not have been a bad job at all. Plus it was 130AM when I was trying to put it back on.

I like the simplicity of a NA and I have no problems with the amount of power that they put out, even fully loaded. I loved my NA rabbit and will actually be looking for another one in the near future
