I really need to work on this truck more often...

I've missed out on a few good deals over the last year or so but I finally was able to get an engine for the truck.

I drove 4 hours round trip to go pick it up and bring it home. Plans are to pull it apart over the winter and see how it looks inside. I am told that it smoked a reasonable amount, whatever that means. It'll be my first time rebuilding a motor so that will be fun. I planned on running it on a stand to do some tests first but the timing belt looks original :o I don't know the mileage on the engine because the cluster was fubar but looking at the car it's probably had a long, hard 350 000kms at least.

Yep, all my engines that I pick up ride shotgun. I recon that it's the safest place for them to be. Not only does the car handle better, but the two most likely accidents would be me rear ending someone or someone rear ending me. In both situations I would rather the engine beside me rather then behind. The only time I can think of where it would be bad to have the engine beside me is in a rollover, but if that was the case I think I'd be done for anyways.

Here is a picture of me bringing home the AAZ motor that is now in my Golf

I've totally trashed my interior though. There is oil in the carpets, on the door cards, seats... everything. I would recommend a trailer, or a caddy ;)

I know that if you take the back seat out you can get TWO engines in there...... probably still get the third one in the front! :D

I put airbags in my 04TDI, 50psi = complete engine sitting on passenger seat, three long blocks in the back seat, two short blocks in the trunk, along with 4 alternators, a half dozen water pumps, a tranny, a crank and my tool box, along with another tranny, and two heavy totes of parts in the clamshell (aka vroombox)

Not just the suspension. It would be okay for storage, but I'd bet on taking out wheel bearings in short order!
