Yea 6 speed standard with a clutch that takes all my force to push in...I only use the clutch when I'm in town.
having synchromesh between gears certainly makes dealing with traffic easier(and allows shifting on steep grades)
luckily we don't have to deal with too much traffic out in dutch harbor.

Do we see you driving on the show?
probably not, Northern Mechanical(the company I work for) has never been filmed before.

awwww, I think its time you need to get on the next season
I have sent some emails to Dirty Jobs about the work we do.
hopefully they decide to come back to dutch and do some filming at our quarry.

My 'company car' has a Series 50 Detroit, which makes my rig a slug sled on the streets of Brooklyn. With a push button Allison, the only shifting I get to do is in my VW's.
Like your rigs, it is still fun to drive.

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.
The truck I use sometimes:

Don't mind the dirt.

For whatever reason, the company keeps Oregon plates on it.
I'm afraid of getting my truck dirty, so I just use the VW as a truck...
I dropped my truck off sunday night dirty, I got a blast yesterday for it...Now I'm going to keep the thing polished all the time
Haha! I use my VW as a truck sometimes too. Usually when someone else has the truck. I've loaded a whole house worth of light fixtures + tools + ladder in my bus before.

My coworkers love the bus. Especially the Filipinos.
I had my 84 jetta packed with me and 4 large guy friends and alllll our stuff jammmmmed in the trunk. why on gods earth we had to take my car, ill never know. I estimate.. 5x 200lbs minimum per person. along with at least 200lbs of stuff in the trunk. 1200lbs loaded. the 1.7 was using every one of those 76 horses lemme tell ya.
I don't get a company pickup, just get to drive the end-dumps and semi's.
I ride a motorcycle to work every day(2007 KLX 250S) and often make part runs etc. on it.
my co-workers often ask me if I want to borrow their rigs for the errands I run, but I laugh and tell them that I would much rather ride the KLX than a beat fullsize chevy

So I had to tow a Volvo XC 90 to a transmission shop this morning, 100KM(60 Miles) from Bathurst. On the way I go, 1/4 of the way the speedo starts acting up, I can deal with that. Couple KMs later the Oil Pressure gauge goes around the loop, I can deal with that. 10 minutes later, Voltage gauge drops below 9....

I can live with that, Truck is still ghoing just find....15kms to go...*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* Truck's Overheating...Pull off and shut it down for a 10 mintues...FINALLY AFTER 2 HOURS I dropped off that Volvo.
On the way Back, I made the trip in 45 minutes... All gauges reading fine....Get back to Bathurst and go to a pick up. Put the bed out, and lower it...AS SOON...I mean as soon as the bed touch the ground
PPPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Blew the Main Hydrolic Line off the PTO, Hydro fluid 20 feet around the truck and the bed stuck on the ground......................................
Some polite words, call the boss he comes over and we manage to jack the bed up about a foot and I chained it up...drove it to the shop like that...
hahaa...thats good stuff, reminds me of what I do out in dutch...
our poor welder works about 100hrs a week to keep up with what we break, and we have a team of four mechanics working 80hrs a week each too.
no fun to be the one who was operating when a piece breaks though, the boss always gives you that look...
hopefully your truck is out of the shop soon.

I had it back in a couple hours, The heavy equipment shop usually passes our trucks in quick. It was fun to have the boss's 2003 Chev 3/4 ton with a 327 in it

MAN can that thing go haulling a focus on the wheel lift lol
