Not great numbers, but some good information.
« on: September 05, 2006, 10:59:55 am »
We had our end of the season at the local drag strip yesterday, and as such it was free runs. So I couldn't pass that up and made a couple of pass's.
Track info:
-2400' ASL
-Air Temp 30C / 86F
-Humidty 42%

Car info:
2910lbs race weight, same as street weight not prepped at all (3/4 tank fuel, full interior, with stereo ect...)
1.6TD ~ 40K on rebulit motor
Stock DP, 2.25" exhaust toilet bowl back
Stock IP (no turns on the fuel screw, no gov mod)
Custom Cut fuel pin (looks like Hillfolker's)
Unpluged wastegate (max psi I saw in the run ~ 25psi, thats all the fuel I had)

First run, clutch started sliping in second and never totally recovered, also completely asleep at the lights (my excuse I was trying to build boost at the line, and looked at my boost gauge and missed the first light).

-rec .935
-I1 2.685
-I2 7.757
-I3 12.294
-I4 16.259
-E.T. 19.578
-MPH 67.995

Next run clutch slipped so bad, I wasn't sure I would be able to drive home, I could rev it like it was in neutral or half engaged. Thankfully after some cool down time it came back close to how it was.

So with the clutch slipping those numbers still calculate out to like ~80whp or like a 12hp gain over stock with just a fuel pin! Cost of mods involved $0, total time like 15min with: opening the top, bench grinder, puting it back together, and cutting the wastegate line and pluging the other end.

Also take note, because of the slipping clutch there is like a 4MPH differnce vs E.T

Here are a couple somewhat recent pics of my car:

same here not impressive but good info
of my thesis testing at Kettering University last week, the engine is a 1.5 liter Turbo diesel, I am running about 12 pounds of boost, power was at the wheels strapped down pretty tight, the dyno is a mustang ATV chassis dyno, I am told that they are notorious for low numbers but its only hear say so I am in no way saying that my car is more powerfull than this.
I am making no smoke, and have the fuel turned back with an NA pump, check out car domain and look at the 1984 rabbit, look at the cracked block and tell me what you think, it cracked through the 2nd main bearing in from the trans side. I was running 27psi if any of you were wondering but I dont think that killed the block.
I tested 6 different fuels, diesel, B5, B20, B50, B100, and heated Veg oil

the problem with that is that I have a 1.5 in it, I dont want to blow this block up by cracking the block by the weak shallow headbolts since I am really relying on this until I get the TDI caddy going then the turbo setup is coming off and going on the TDI until I can build up a Twin setup. when the turbo comes off the 4 door then I will put it back to NA and fix the body and sell it with the rebuilt 1.5 liter. so for right now 53 hp best run is good enough for me sorry I havent tried more mods for power, I would have but I cracked the 1.6

2910 lb is way too much for an A2.

My A2 weighs 1090 kg (2400 lb) with some stuff in the trunk and 1190 kg (2625 lb) with me.

A friend of mine has a Trophy (every option in the book, no ABS, but G60 front brakes) and his car weighs 1100kg (2425 lb) on the dot.

Are you driving around with a cement block in the trunk?  :?:
