Is it special? I thought it was an M12 hex washer head? Maybe it depends on which alt you have ac or non ac?

Post a pic of what you are looking for, I maybe able to help.

gasser uses a normal socket head bolt..

diesel uses something different i believe..

couldnt use a gasser bolt on a diesel, because i tried..

Right I have a gas alt on my diesel. IIRC it was an 11mm bolt on the gasser as I had to drill it to fit the diesel to 12mm.

Post a pic as it may just be a 12mm that is pretty long, but I should be able to get.

Pretty sure its a M6 bolt, not a M12..

M12 is the same size as our head bolts!!

IIRC, it's something like  10 x 1.5 x 110..

The one on the right.

the others are 140mm

I have one somewhere in the shed, but it's raining like hell out there now... tomorrow I can get the length.

i am stuck as far as a picture because i don't have anything that fits in the bin, old one is gone.

i have no idea what is stock but the 85 with no ac had just a typical bolt with part shoulder that feeds through drivers side and threads on passenger side of alternator mount.

also i tried to ask a vw dealer that i got some other parts from to pull up a picture and get me a new bolt and they said not made anymore?

Looks to me a regular old hex washer head. Could be replaced with a hex head and washer of appropriate length.
