The blocks are hard enough on these that the bores are usually pretty good unless the motor has been traumatized. This one is just tired. I have gotten over 100K on a ring and valve job on an IDI. I do not need it to be perfect. The car has 330K on it, after all. It is pretty nice, though. I would have guessed just over 100K from the condition. It was owned by an old lady that commuted 130 miles a day. Probably a petite woman at that from the condition of the seats.
FYI getting the pan off is no big deal and torquing the rods is even easier. You can't be a ham handed goon and expect it to last, but the technique I use keeps the crap out of the motor and has worked well on at least 50 IDIs. There is a sticky somewhere on this site that tells you how to do it.
