Yes, this is my first ever engine transplant :o. I have taken a TD long block that I bought from Tyler over two years ago, had the cylinders honed out, and everything that goes along with that, put all new parts in and now trying to put it all together. The head that came with the block looked almost like new(clean inside, no cracks anywhere), so I left it alone. I have only this forum for assistance, I live too far out in BFE to get any help ;D

Just realized that I don't have the right hoses, since I am adding an oil cooler. How much would I be messing this up if I took off the oil cooler until I can get this running?   Or maybe I could rig something with some tees I can get from the hardware store ::)

We have engine start up!!!!!!!!!!!!   I got it started, it was clacking pretty loud, shut it off. Loosened up injection pump and pulled back on it a bit and retightened it. Started it again and it sounded pretty damn good!!!! About the same as my N/A did except for a high pitched whine that must be the turbocharger. I still have to check on an exhaust leak and figure out how to get my wheels both pointed straight(I completely replaced the steering rack and am now having trouble getting the tierods off to readjust them) Other than that, I need to get the front of the car put back on and get the engine up to operating temp so that I can turn the headbolts again.

I couldn't have done this without the help I received on here!!!!!!!!!!!

make sure the high pitched whine is not an over tightened timing belt..

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

new alternator, new water pump. Whining seems to be gone. I think I am just hearing the turbo when it spools.

Alternator bearings? water pump bearings?

alternator bearings sometimes sound like a tight timing belt..

water pumps usually just GROWL, not whine.. but ive NOT seen it all.

usually, when i get a whine on the belt end of the engine, i remove all accessory belts, and start it, just to rule out the tensioner..

what else could it be?

A timing belt that is not tracking properly between the pulleys and is rubbing on something.
