Need Help Putting Passenger Side CV Assembly Back In!! Please

Maybe I've been on my back too long and the blood has all rushed too my head But I can't seem to get my new CV axle back on. I got all the old bolts out without a hitch and removed the old cv axle. For some reason I can't seem to get the new one in. The suspension arm or oil pan is in the way. Please don't laugh at me(too much) I'm sure I am overlooking something  ::)Does the wheel need to be off the ground or on it? Do I need to turn the steering one way or the other? My Bentley book shows pictures but doesn't mention procedure. I know I have done this before but I don't remember this much difficulty. Help please if you have the patience.

Nevermind, I took everything off and got it back on. There was probably an easier way, but I didn't see it.

I don't know how you got it but the old trick is to use a floor jack to lift the engine/transmission assembly up about 1/2" which is just enough to get the end of the axle to clear the flange, without having to remove the suspension arm. Turning the wheel also helps.

Dang, i knew there had to be a trick to it!!!

The front control arm bolt. Remove that and the control arm will swing out allowing you to get the axle out with no issue.

on my cars, i just un-do the ball joint bolts, and then swing the knuckle/strut out of the way..

passenger side axle has enough room to get it out without taking anything apart.

drivers side, knuckle needs to swing away a bit..
