i need a clutch to hold more power for my 84 rabbit. there seems to be plenty of stuff for the 1.8 gas motors of the same year. would they work on the diesel

What is this monster that you are needing such a powerful clutch? A stock clutch (210mm) should hold fine on a tweaked TD.

A gasser 210mm clutch should be a cheap upgrade,.. and I believe the 16V pressure plate applies more force.

gearbox vw used in mk3 vrs and tdis, and everything mk4+ stock clutches are known to hold 250-300hp stock. And they last forever (comparatively) unlike our 020s

I would suggest an ACT pressure plate and stock disk. If you have the means, an o2a swap would be ideal. It is not a bolt in affair though.

i have a 16v pressure plate, and 210mm clutch.. it hooks up good!
idk why it wouldnt work for you.. the 16v pressure plate is the important part of the equation.. no stiffer clutch pedal, but you can tell the difference when launching..

I run a sachs 16v PP and 210 disc with my 1z in the cabriolet and it has no problem hooking up
The 16v originally came on sciroccos and some jettas/golfs of the 87/88/89 vintage the 210 disc came on rabbits, jettas, golfs everything but the diesel from about 84 on and flywheel you can do from any of the 16v or even 8v mk3 cars just make sure its marked for TDC before installing it as some only have advanced timing marks!

its off a 16v car, duh!
kidding aside tho, its off a 2.0 16v out of a german 92 Jetta GLI.
flywheel, i think its a stock weight gasser flywheel.
and the clutch is rebuilt stock VW/Audi 210mm.

and another question the outside diameter of the flywheel is is the same? does the starter and such still work?
and the disc will fit the splines on my o20 trans?
