GT15 on 1.6 shifter clearance problem

I put a GT15 turbo on a 1.6TD engine(really spools quick) but have a exhaust clearance problem with the shift rod(using part of the GT15 downpipe) Thought maybe shortening the shift rod? I tried a short shift adapter but still hits the exhaust.

Maybe a tighter radius on the downpipe? Any pics?

thats all it needs, a tighter radius. my downpipe has a real tight radius, and the shifter clears it by a mile. both 4 and 5 speed links clear my setup.

i made my downpipe out of cut up chunks of exhaust pipe..

summit racing has stainless and regular steel. I would use 2.5" or 3" with as short a radi as possible.

What chassis are we talking about? My mk1 caddy was hella tight between the turbo and relay shaft lever. There was only about 2 inches between the turbo outlet and the relay shaft lever. The gt 15 looks identical to the generic turbo I used. I wanted to make a 2.5" or 3" downpipe but would have had to use a oval to round pipe adapter on the turbo outlet flange, which would make it even tighter yet. I ended up bending the top lever of the relay shaft down and ran my downpipe back towards the firewall and then down.

With relay rod-shaft bent down it shifted okay? The original downpipe on the TDI is tight. The relay rod hits right in the middle of the pipe.

Yes it shifted the same with no adjustments. About all I used from the tdi downpipe was the flange.
This is what I started with, and cut the pipe off the flange.

And this is what I ended up with

What-how did you regulate the wastegate? I put a boost gauge on mine and it hits 20-25 easy at 3000 rpm. Afraid I'll blow the HG without trying.

My wastegate has a adjustable rod, but I left it where it was at around 10-11 psi.

are we talking about GT conventional turbos? or GT VNTs? cause all my info pertains to a VNT.. and in a mk1 chassis..
and the reason you hit 30 psi by 3 grand is cause the vaines are not opening far enough, and the turbo is overspooling.
