A little update: I finally went for an engine instead of a car.

I bought RR blue engine along with tranny, stock turbo, intake, exhaust and intake manifold from another member.

I went to TDIfest in Wisconsin and a guy I know gave me: 1 AAZ block, 1 TDI block (don't know from what though), a 3000 miles old drive shaft (long one from a B4 TDI) and a brand new 22mm master cylinder.

As for the body that all this stuff will go into, I'll go with the lightest VW made since 1975.

I'll let you guys guess what it is.

Hint: it's watercooled and not a dune buggy...

For now, no more money, so the body will wait.

Guess not.

It's also sold in Europe, but not under the ECOdiesel name.

heres a couple pictures showing me test fitting a air dam and wheel well skirts on  my 84 rabbit with only 66K original miles on it! it was originally equipped with a gasoline fuel injected motor coupled to a 3 speed automatic. i am in the process of converting to a 5 speed and a 1.6 diesel motor.  i have lots of goodies including air conditioning and 10.2lb ultralight 15x6.5 konig helium wheels with falken ziex 205/50-15 summer tyres.
this is a southern car so its nearly rust free.

I'm on 56k but I'll try to get some pics...

She's not a beauty...man oh man...you get what you pay for...

A little bit of spray pain should mask all the rust...

She cost me 85$, I found 5$ worth of money inside :!:

A few things later (new tires, oil and coolant) and I'm around 370 total...

I hope everything will cost me less than 500$. :?

Here's my '81 Rabbit. Yes, I am a little proud of that bright red paint job on the rebuilt 1.6NA (took about 4 coats, Chrysler Industrial Red hi-temp engine paint).

My new to me 84 jetta diesel. Picked it up the other day for 500 bucks. I didn't want to spend that much but did anyway. It needs alot of work but will be a fun winter project. The glow plug relay is bad and the glow plugs wouldn't come on, so to start I had to connect the jumper cable directly to the plug. It hadn't run in 2 years and after cranking for awile and spraying some wd-40 in the intake it started up. I drove it home 30miles with no plates and one tail light at night.

It needs some door trim, and some bigger wheels the 13's dont do well on it.

A new coat of shiny paint, 16inch wheels and maybe some window tint.

Ya, I know no turbo the thing is nut less compared to my old 91 eco. But it is a race car compared to my friends 91 non turbo, I cant figure that one out. Hopefully I'll have a trubo and intercooler on it this spring.
