With the diesel, yes, provided fuel can still flow through the pump.

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

ok, it also looks like then engine i am going to get has no alternator, can I use my gas alternator?

If it fit's than yes (unless someone who knows more says no ;)). If you are going to run the stock diesel tach then it needs a W terminal.

what year is your car? if its 84 or older, it has no in tank pumps. if it has an in tank pump. its low pressure. use it for your lift pump, it will put out about 4 or 5 psi if i remember right. just be sure to take the high pressure external pump out of the fuel line.

its a 1986. i wasn't sure if i needed the in tank pump, if i dont i will take it out.

for now i wont be running a tach.

leave it there, it will be perfect for priming the system. and it will act as a lift pump. now you wont have to sit there and crank your engine for 5 minutes every time you lose your prime or run out of diesel.

well, unless of course you feel the need to disconnect it. it might become a restriction if you un plug it. thats all im thinking. you want fuel to get to the IP as freely as possible. not my project, but i would leave it there hooked up.
