What clutch for an 93 Jetta w/AAZ?
« on: October 11, 2008, 06:52:40 pm »
I've asked in one chat room, and one VW guru I've talked to said to order the parts (including flywheel) for a 2002 Cabrio... except he also thought that there was just one 020 input shaft (because of there being only one alignment tool? :? But there's more than one alignment tool, and there's more than one shaft.)

What input shaft does a stock AAZ car have, anyway? 22 or 24mm?

He also said that it's a total crapshoot what flywheel is actually going to be in the car, and that you couldn't really tell even with the trans off. (I thought there was only 1 or 2 pin flywheels?)

Unfortunately, ETKA just makes things more confusing...

Keep in mind, I'm in Ohio, so I'd really prefer to buy this stuff from a US seller. And, not the dealer (or World Impex, or 1stVWParts, or any place like that,) please, unless I have to. AutohausAZ didn't like ETKA's part number for the AAZ clutch, and they're who I normally go through. (They're a WorldPac seller, so if someone's got a WorldPac item number, that will work great.)

I'm not opposed to buying a new flywheel if I have to.

(No, I don't own this car. No, it's not for sale. Yes, if/when it's for sale, I plan on owning this car.)

talk to bleachedbora on TDIclub.com  he should be able to hook you up.

i think the splines would be closer to 24.  i think 22 is more of a 1.6TD...

that spline crap is kind of annoying to be honest... just another problem for my project...

Well, the clutch part number begins with 068 (it's 068 141 037 M, for the record,) which is the 1.5/1.6 prefix...

And, I looked it up in the Euro catalog, it was used in 1.6 diesel (everything from NA to GTD) Golf and Jetta rental cars and taxis. Which tells me it's 22mm.
