Ever seen or have driven any of those Toyota Master Ace Surf TD 4x4 van's? I found one here localy that looks to be sitting along the road. Kind of cool looking with all of those window/sunroofs up there, and a plus being a turbo diesel and 4x4. Are they gutless turds, fun, economical, or what? I know its not a VW, but its a diesel.

No, but i have now worked on 3 of those Mitsibushi Delica 4x4 turbo diesels. My part time pump rebuilder knew about them from Bulgaria where he is from and says the motors are industrucible. Knows of one that went 1.5 million kms before a rebuild ! super lux inside - the rear remainds me of first class on a jet [not that i've ever been in one but...] .Very very cool.

any toyota with a 2.4 turbo diesel is waiting to have a cracked head , the fix is to put a 2.8 litre head on the 2.4 .

the casting between the cumbustion chamber and coolant passages it too thin .
the 2.8 head which bolts on is built much much thicker .

A guy i work with has one. Pretty cool little rig, although he doesn't get very much more mileage than my Sierra 4X4 with a 350 :shock: . He wants to fry-oil the thing! YUK!!
