Boost gauge location question

Can I splice the braided line that links the intake to the LDA and throw a pressure gauge right on it?
I have the brass fittings to do it (but not a long enough line for the gauge to go to my dash.
Is this a silly idea?
Will having a long line go from that location to my dash be inaccurate?
LMK what you think!

Ok, so i did it and this it what it loooooks like!
Dunno what im gonna do when i have to close the window though....
In the process of seeing how much boost I could make I destroyed a rad hose. In my view, it had to be changed anyways! It was one of few that i didn't change. Made about 10psi at the top end though. Basically none on the low end... with the fuel screw turned OUT quite a lot. no smoke.

Does anyone know if the oil in that line means anything? It concerns me. Tells me im burning a hefty amount of oil. And does the LDA particularily
like
that oil?

you will get a little bit of oil in the line ..... the higher the rpm the engine is run at , the more oil you will find in the line .
99 times out 100 the oil is from the breather tube coming out of the valve cover , nothing really to worry about , unless your having to top up the engine oil on a regular basis , and you can't see any leaks .
where you tapped ito your presure line is about the same spot i used .
as long as you don't pinch or crush the line to the guage , you can go many times longer than the actual distance you will need to have the guage on the dash .
worst case senerio , the guage will read a bit slow to what is actually happening .

awesome! thanks. How do you get yours to the dash? do you drill a hole through the fire wall where the little wireing harness (i guess you could call it) goes through?

Hmmm mine has like a rubber gromet that keeps it all sealed shut... was yours an open hole? or did you pull the gromet off ( i think gromet is the word im looking for?)

you could also just take a knife make the gromet for the wiring harness a bit larger to accomodate the whose

I work with someone who has an mk1 jetta, the first turbo diesel model, and it has over 700k on it. two rebuilds? or something... starts better than mine, sounds better than mine, but is a lot slower ^.^
