Boost gauge location question
« on: August 23, 2008, 06:22:16 pm »
Can I splice the braided line that links the intake to the LDA and throw a pressure gauge right on it?
I have the brass fittings to do it (but not a long enough line for the gauge to go to my dash.
Is this a silly idea?
Will having a long line go from that location to my dash be inaccurate?
LMK what you think!

Ok, so i did it and this it what it loooooks like!

Dunno what im gonna do when i have to close the window though....
In the process of seeing how much boost I could make I destroyed a rad hose. In my view, it had to be changed anyways! It was one of few that i didn't change. Made about 10psi at the top end though. Basically none on the low end... with the fuel screw turned OUT quite a lot. no smoke.

Does anyone know if the oil in that line means anything? It concerns me. Tells me im burning a hefty amount of oil. And does the LDA particularily like that oil?

you will get a little bit of oil in the line ..... the higher the rpm the engine is run at , the more oil you will find in the line .

99 times out 100  the oil is from the breather tube coming out of the valve cover , nothing really to worry about , unless your having to top up the engine oil on a regular basis , and you can't see any leaks .

where you tapped ito your presure line is about the same spot i used .

as long as you don't pinch or crush the line to the guage , you can go many times longer than the actual distance you will need to have the guage on the dash .

worst case senerio , the guage will read a bit slow to what is actually happening .

awesome! thanks. How do you get yours to the dash? do you drill a hole through the fire wall where the little wireing harness (i guess you could call it) goes through?
