1.6 injectors in a 1.5?
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:05:16 am »
I just recently aquired a 1980 Dasher with the 1.5D for daily driving.  After the first long jaunt on the highway one of the injectors sprung a leak.  Local shop wants an outrageous $78 each to rebuild the ones i have, or they sell rebuilt 1.6 N/A injectors for $27, go figure.  My question is are these interchangeable.  I had heard that the injector angle was different between the two motors, and i would hate to burn a couple holes in my pistons, but at the same time i really dont want to pay almost $350 for 4 rebuilds.  I didnt pay a whole lot more than that to have my 6 12v Cummins injectors rebuilt and EDM'd to my specs.

you should be fine with the 1.6 injectors - i know for a fact the injection angle is the same, and the prechambers are almost exhactly the same - similar enough not to cause you problems..

the breaking pressure will be a little different presumeably but likely wont make much difference.

for the 1.5 the pressure is supposed to be 125bar i think
