my K24 sounds like it has a BOV

When I first put my VNT on my motor, but before I installed the actuator, I could get mine to surge by revving it, and in fact it would stall the motor. Mine was more of a chuff chuff chuff sound, and it was when I let off the throttle.

well it sounds like thre is nothing to be done about this issue to me........
i run it at about 15-18 PSI and yes i hear a noise when i let off.....
i anded up using the stock downpipe with a flange that i moded to fit my other one, i am runnig 2.5 inch from DP back but still the  stock one off the turbo i only hit 1200 on my EGT gauge max never more so i dont worry bout it

i am going to keep the PSI around that level as i didnt change to a bigger turbo to have to baby it or i would have just left the stock one i wanted more power at higher RPM's in which i got it  so this noise i dont know...
they say turbo to big for the motor well why they put them on 1.6's there even smaller and they dont make a noise so why on a AAZ??? makes no sence if ya ask me!

the only great thing is i went from using 750-800 km/tank to like 900 so i use less fuel doing this swap! i would normaly on highway (95% of my driving) so my other K03 woul;d run 12-14 PSI on highway and my K24 runs 4-6PSI doing 115-120 KM/h so i am happy with my fuel consumption!!

so about this noise, whatever if i gotta rebuilt the the stupid thing in a year then whatever then at least ill know im starting fresh

thanks everyone for the input

talked this over with some VW friends last night while enjoying refreshing beverages.

My 1.9 TDI with waste gated GT15/K-ityy bitty turbo runs 18-20 psi and no issues while shifting. 260K miles on it now.

friends who had a GTD years ago with no waste gate, or pop-off had no problems.

Friend with stock 1.6 TD 84 jetta, no problems.

many folks with similar modded 1.6 and 1.9 TD motors, no problems

turbo with unknown history, and blown head gasket sending coolant and oil into a rapidly spinning turbo,  broken shafts.  So, make sure oil supply and return are flowing properly, slap another rebuilt turbo on and see what happens....  course this conclusion was after plenty of the refreshing beverage.
