Does anybody know if the '00 PD150/130 (ARL/ASZ) used a 12V Glow plug system, or did they switch to the ceramic tip 7V GP ahead of North America (NA)? I have been looking at my wire diagram and it looks like a simple 12V system. In NA, all the PD's run ceramic tip. I was looking at the ceramic tips a a VW dealer and they are longer than the 12V style.
thanks guys
It's 12 Volt.
thanks TinTin,
I think what I am doing is similar to yours. I have the ARL 40 pin engine harness, and I have an ALH 80 pin harness for the other plug.
Will the ALH glow plug relay work with the ARL (EDC15P) ECU, or will it CEL?
Also, I am using this on a BHW engine, which has 7V GP's. I like the idea of using the 12V GP, instead of the fragile ceramics. Can you see any issues with 12V's fitting this PD head and functioning properly? I have noted that the 7V's are about 1/2" longer than the 12V's. Is your PD using standard ALH GP's or something else?
I never compare my 150 glow plug with ALH one, but they are definately no ceramic.
I do not remember exactly, but the ALH glow plug system is the same as ARL, all EDC15 in fact.
My engine is year 2003.

thanks TinTin, I just got a comparison from VWMikel and the ALH and the ARL GP's are the exact same unit. I'll get a new relay on my harness and go with it. I guess the length difference does not make a difference becuase of the angle it enters the combustion chamber. I'll be glad to toss the ceramic GP's.
