the cruise control on my 94 cuts out erratically, sometimes will reset, sometimes not. I have tested the vacuum and circuits as per the bently manual, all checks out well. any ideas?

Replace the control box if everything else checks out good.

Alot of the times either the brake or clutch switch gets out of adjustment and becomes too " sensitive". If you have a meter connect at either one, and it should take at least i inch of pressing at the pedal for the signal to get cut. The stalk with the on/off switch after some time wear also.

go through the diagnostic procedure in the bentley manual
the lines are on a vacuum system, sometimes they need to be changed too
