just been down santa pod today,
took the caddy on the quater mile
the crowd all stood up for my 2nd gear burn out at the start line, first ever run, golf vr6 pulls away and gets a 10 yard head start, as i spazed up the revs in first gear  , then into second and i shot passed him, continued to pull away, ended up beeting him by about 50 yards
the track was wet and no one got any good times. not only did i beet a vr6 but also beet regal's 350bhp 18t mk5 golf
my set up cud of been alot better and i over reved it like crazy, i never realised till afterwards that all my torque is down low,
has anyone got any idea exactly where the power band starts and finishes? whens best to change gear on a super high boost aaz?
the quater mile is amazing, id recomend it to anyone
Any tuned engine has a different powerband. Best way to know what it looks like is on a dyno.
NICE WORK BEATING A VR
YOU MAKE ME PROUD ROLLING THE 4 BANGER DIESEL
nice style
i cant afford to get it dynod, that would cost more than my whole car
How expensive dynoing is there  It´s 40-50€ here.
Any times/trapspeeds :?:
its about £60 to get it dynod here, which is what my whole engine cost me
poverty
my best time was 16.4 but i am so sure i cud knock more than a second off that, and if my set up was better i cud probly bring it down pretty close to the 14s + the track was clearly wet too
mate, have you tried stealth racing in warwick, vince is a cool dude. give him a ring.
whereabouts in coventry are you?
i am from nuneaton and have an aaz in my mk3. i was due to go to santa pod but the weather forecast put me off.
what work you done to your motor then?
i was going to go with the mk1 golf owners club but too the weather put me off
Bert
i would say that your max torque is going to be when you can reach max boost. so probably around 2800-3200 rpm.
max hp however will be wayyyy up there near or at redline.
Check out the 1.6 power figures. definitely not 1.9, but should give you an idea.

and congrats on beating a vr6 & 350 hp 1.8T  and the fact that you haven't put much money into that beast is even more incredible!!!

im in walsgrave.
gov mod, gtd boost pin (very modified), 11mm pump piston
garret T3 with blocked waste gate 40-50psi, tdi crank shaft, clutched alternator, electric fuel pump to feed my thirsty pump, merc nozzles. to name a few  .
cant see smoke... :?:
you should try on lauching on a taller gear, that was too short...
garret T3 with blocked waste gate 40-50psi
A T3 can't push 40-50 psi. At those levels of boost the head wouldn't stick on the block for long.

well tbh im just guessing, my gauge only goes up to 30, and it shoots off the gauge in about 2 seconds increadibly fast, the actuator is totaly disconected, it seems to be ok i dont go full thottle for more than a few seconds just to be safe. i was under the impression that the more fuel i throw in the more boost i get and theres certainly plenty of fuel.
if anyone knows how much boost im hitting with my fuel mods id be interested. i still recon around 40+
