Hey everyone. I've asked this question on the Suzuki diesel forum, but I can't seem to get a good answer. Probably because they're mostly Suzuki drivers and not VW guys.
Anyway, I've installed a VW 1.6L TD into a Suzuki Sidekick. I have a Blackstone intercooler from a Saab I'd like to install. I have 2 possible locations.
1. Located where the old air box was. Essentially its right over the driver's side wheel well. Good - straight line to the turbo/intake for hoses. Bad - no air flow for cooling.
2. Below the big 27" VW radiator on the front grill. Good - plenty of air cooling. Bad - a few twists in the hosing to get to the turbo/intake.
So... does the intercooler need air flow to cool properly? Will the twists effect cooling? Which do you think is the best location?
I have pics but I don't have a host to post them.
Thanks, Dave
