It's well under 750. I can lift the whole motor myself (not high, and not for long mind you)

Make sure that the motor stand has a nice rotating stand, and a good place to put a big bucket under it.

I actually have one of the PA 750lb engine stand and I don't like it much. The one with only one wheel at the front is way too tippy. I have a VW engine block on it right now and it tries to tip when you roll the engine over. They make a 1000 lb unit with two front wheels which is much better and not much more expensive. If you have to spend money on tools make sure they are nice to work with not a pain. Cheers Dan

i second that. the ones with one caster on the front are a waste of time.. i dunno how many times ive had to catch a falling engine.. and most of the time i end up messing up my back. i cut the single caster off mine and welded a 24" chunk of steel square stock and put wheels on each end.

one cut, a little grinder work, a couple holes drilled, and one weld.
VOILA!
instant beefy engine stand.

I just weighed an AAZ with a big fish scale and an engine crane...
400 lbs almost exactly.

:o I don't know what's crazier, that it weighed 400 lbs, or that you have a fish scale that goes up to 400 lbs!

What all was attached to the motor? Was oil and coolant in it?

:o 400 lbs? what all did it have on it? a transmission and everything? because i can pick up a runable 1.6 TD engine that has everything on it and oil in the pan. this engine didnt have a trans tho. but i packed that thing around a few times no problem. then one day i went to pack my 22R out of my basement, and i about *** a buick when i picked that thing up. its supposed to weigh 315 lbs. but i know that thing had at least 100 lbs on my diesel, and i knew it that day, i was hunched over for a couple days after that one. i just have a really hard time believing that an AAZ, or any VW diesel weighs 100 pounds less than a small block chevy.  ???

All the accesories, IP, hoses, oil in the sump, motor mounts, flywheel, etc. etc... just like it came out of the car. "Wet weight"

No trans ;)

The scale actually only read up to 300 lbs, but the pointer kept going, & I marked where it pointed when the motor left the ground. The scale was 50lbs for every 3/4", and the motor lifted at 300 + 1.5", or 6" total deflection. Might be a margin of error going off scale, but it's close enough.

Tyler... you been pumping Iron or what!?!?! Holy Hell. lmao

Me (19) and a friend (51) lifted a complete "wet weight" n/a out of a golf and up on to a trailer by hand.... i thought he was going to have a stroke... I pulled a muscle something fierce. there is nooowayy it was under 500.. however just the engine is probably a lot lighter.. the whole shebang had to be AT LEAST 600lbs.
