I'll know how well it really works when i get an exhaust pipe on the car but im thinking 1,000F is going to be the hottest for what im running.
I'll post some vids of all sorts of stuff when i insure it.

whats a temp you should stay away from over 1000

1600F pre-turbine is a good max temp, and should only be sustained for a few seconds or so.

Thought TD blocks were good up to around 1450? or am i thinking n/a?

Obviously, the inconel in turbine wheels starts to deform at about 1600° F. So much to think about! Lol

don't forget that just because the air is a certain temp, it doesn't mean that the surrounding parts will be at that temp as well... due to the velocity and characteristics of air itself, 1600F for very brief periods, should be okay.

Is prothe a good person to buy from?

I'm thinking of buying a couple of EGT gauges and boost, oil temp/pressure too.

I agree, it doesn't go low enough. Plus 60% of the guage is useless, you'll only use up to the 1600* mark, and you won't be in that range everyday anyway... The way i figure i want to only buy a guage with enough numbers i can use after that its useless to me... On postive note, Prothe's guage looks good though :wink:

and it's affordable.
and a bright red warning light comes on above 1400f (i think its 1400) i know it comes on if something has happened to the wires (ie. it becomes unplugged or severed from the probe)

i wouldnt think there is much need to know how low the temps really are
as long as you know soon enough things are going tits up!!

for the price its a billy bargian, as long as it warn you in time, and not post dettonation :?

something i noticed, was someone saying the egts ran higher with no exaust pipe??

i was gunna do a side exite pippe, which would make it about 2 mtrs total length!

would that be enough for gasses to escape or will i need it longer??

will be without cat ect!!!

Seriously, i dont know why everyone refuses to listen to me. Prothes gauge is responsive. I like it a lot. You can push your foot down and see the dial move accordingly. It can't predict what you're going to do ...

and the gas temp IS NOT the temp of your internals ... It's the temp they WILL be if you hold that temp for long.

I like prothe's gauge. I don't give a hoot what anyone else says who doesn't even use it.

I do agree that it does go uselessly. knowing your egt is 600 or 0 doesn't make any difference to me at least. 600 in my books is pretty cold for egt. You have a fair bit of leeway in fueling before you start to venture from 600 to something dangerous. the VDO one is IMHO a perfect egt gauge but it's a lot more money.

PS. egt will never ever be higher with LESS restriction of the exit flow of exhaust gases. That just doesn't make any logical sense what so ever.

You wanna reduce egt and still add fuel? more boost, water/meth injection, a bigger turbo, a BIG downpipe, straight pipe, less bends.

I'm with Andrew on this one.. even with 100% synthetic oil's 450 degrees, you need that range the Westech gives you.
