Aluminum tends to melt at 660.32 °C. (1220.58 °F)Keep THAT in mind
so whats a good gauge to go with that doesn't eat at your pocket
If you do not cool down the turbo to 300°F or so, then the oil will coke up the bearings and turbo life will be shortened. Cool down times are often not intuitive. The simple reason that Prothe's gauge does not have a cool down range makes it useless to me. I greatly prefer the Westach gauges from Aircraft Spruce for the specific reasons I quoted above. $80 for the complete kit is a whole lot better deal to me than Prothe's kit.Andrew
