Recently rebuilt motor in a very tired shell. Holes in rockers, significant rust in wheel wells and some holes in the bed - basically a goner. Can't find clean shells anywhere so thinking about ditching the body and getting a different car for this engine...not looking for any fab work, etc. just a relatively simple drop in.
So far an '89 Audi 100 would work:

Hi,
That was my Audi.
I miss it.
That engine will pretty much drop right into any of these cars with a 5-speed (FWD or AWD) and 5 cylinder engine:
Audi 80, 90, 100, 200, 4000, 5000, UrS4, UrS6, Coupe, Coupe Quattro, VW Quantum, etc.
It will bolt to pretty much any 012, 016, 01A, or 01E transmission, including 6 speeds. That means if you don't mind fabbing up some custom engine mounts, it should also fit in a lot of A4s, A6s, allroad, etc.
Can also go in a Vanagon (with bellhousing adapter), but is a bit tall. (It's about 16 mm taller (IIRC) than most other 5 cylinder engines.)
