WTB soft green advance spring
« on: February 02, 2011, 03:40:05 pm »
hey all, I am interested in buying an advance spring from a vw injection pump.
specifically the softest that was available, I believe it was the green one.

if anyone has one lying around, or one in a core pump that they would not mind letting go of, I would be greatful

gotta get this isuzu running right!

I will see what I have in the mech 1.6 TD. I don't know what springs the TD's had, but I thought the green spring was real early 1.6 maybe only the 1.5 in all but the vanagon. The Vanagon for sure had the green spring and it was in the 1.6...I am just saying that there may have been more than that AND that a 12mm TD block may not have what you are looking for. I will still look though.

I think that's the spring in the 1.5 pumps: 107A.
I've seen green spring in them before,.. and it makes sense, they have a steeper line.

What about a spring from a 1.9 pump? They're longer and softer... it has some preload when you put the pump cap on, but you could adjust the preload by cutting the spring. Might be too soft though

enough boost is when you have 3 dimple marks in the hood from the valve cover nuts..  ;D

that would be sweet!

I just clearanced a timing spring cover to go with the new spring, so hopefully I can get this fixed really quick.

I can't get the cover off to get the spring out. I can't get it easily at least. I need to take off everything to get to it and the engine is rolling around on the ground. I don't have my engine stand and it is cold in my shed.
Basically I am whimping out on you, but at least I tried :D
