I'm not trying to bash. I'm just airing on the side of caution. We don't see the range of diesel applications in the US. That privilege belongs to the Canadians. So. from our perspective, if it looks like a duck...
I'm just going on what I've seen in 25+ years tinkering on these turds. The pump body looks like an AAZ candidate, but the input shaft looks a bit narrow. I (think) that some AAZ had a thicker one. Could be wrong on that one. But the top certainly does NOT look like any AAZ I've personally seen, nor any 1.6TD I've seen. But it's the spitting image of a late 80s early 90s 1.6NA pump on USA models with altitude compensation. Obviously, the only way to really tell what this pump is, is to measure the dist. shaft and look at the boost pin.
If it has all the attributes of an AAZ pump (10 or 11mm shaft) and has a 1.6TD-style boost pin, then it could be the best of both worlds. But, as some know, using the pump numbers is often a hairy game, and at the moment, $400 is a chunk of change to gamble on a "black box".
My comments were intended to seek affirmation from our neighbors to the north. They know these a bit more-intimately than we do. I could have worded it a bit better, but the gauntlet was tossed. Sorry if it was offensive (or if this is offensive). If I had money to toss around, I'd take the gamble. But math is hard, and I can't figure out what I'd be paying.
