I'm not trying to bash. I'm just airing on the side of caution. We don't see the range of diesel applications in the US. That privilege belongs to the Canadians. So. from our perspective, if it looks like a duck...

I'm just going on what I've seen in 25+ years tinkering on these turds. The pump body looks like an AAZ candidate, but the input shaft looks a bit narrow. I (think) that some AAZ had a thicker one. Could be wrong on that one. But the top certainly does NOT look like any AAZ I've personally seen, nor any 1.6TD I've seen. But it's the spitting image of a late 80s early 90s 1.6NA pump on USA models with altitude compensation. Obviously, the only way to really tell what this pump is, is to measure the dist. shaft and look at the boost pin.

If it has all the attributes of an AAZ pump (10 or 11mm shaft) and has a 1.6TD-style boost pin, then it could be the best of both worlds. But, as some know, using the pump numbers is often a hairy game, and at the moment, $400 is a chunk of change to gamble on a "black box".

My comments were intended to seek affirmation from our neighbors to the north. They know these a bit more-intimately than we do. I could have worded it a bit better, but the gauntlet was tossed. Sorry if it was offensive (or if this is offensive). If I had money to toss around, I'd take the gamble. But math is hard, and I can't figure out what I'd be paying. ;)

There are/were godknowshowmany different AAZ pumps in the UK and AFAIK majority were 9mm and only the holy grail had 10mm.Havnt heard or seen of an 11mm one but i dont profess to be an expert. Did you get 11mm AAZ pumps in US?

There were also 2 possibly 3 pump tops in UK - one even had the LDA top half missing completely and replaced with a flat plate!

The shaft is 9mm , this is in/part of the Bosch code as per photo.

The pump top is similar/same as a few SB/RA pumps i have had (1.6GTD) that incorporated the boost pin as per AAZ/GTD. If you look ontop of the LDA is has the port blanked with a yellow plug indicating the need to put the manifold/LDA pipe in place.

Might just whip the top off one on Monday and have a cheeky nosey ;D

being from the us of a we never got the love of aaz engines.. but in generater form.. but... my family did buy one of these engines and put it in my brothers car.. na to begin with and turbo later.. since then the stock gen pump was removed in search of better power.. (more smoke!) ha.. so the gen pump got taken apart to look and see what was different.. the normal throttle spring pack is replaced with a certain rpm spring from what i under stood.. more like the cummins ve pump.. so getting to the point.. if it is a gen turbo pump.. then you probably could just change the throttle shaft were the throttle spring pack attaches to an normal a "normal" style spring pack and you'd have normal rpm range.. but i'd be happy with the 1k-4k for daily driver perposes anyways.. you don't need 6K ha...

so BUMP for NOS pumps
