TDI Piston

Hello,
I am looking for either a good TDI piston, ALH or BHW piston to measure. If not I need dimensions for:
- Wrist pin Dia.
- Wrist pin length
- Piston Thickness above Pin to bottom of piston
- Compression Height
The shop that worked on my engine didn't give me back my pistons. They where still good as well, hence the reason I ask.
Thanks
Brad

Sorry don't have any on the shelf at the moment... but thought I'd check to ensure you know there are two different pistons... 1/2 are the same and 3/4 are the same.

Hello,
A set of custom pistons are not that much more then a set of new ones. And it will allow me to have a custom shaped bowl. Lighter Weight, and possibly better oil cooling.
Also if I find one, I will put a 16v Head on which will require a different pistons.
Question for those who ask why. Why not put stock pistons back in your high performance gas engine? I am sure they would take a tone of abuse too.
When you want to run on the edge you run everything component you can to make sure you stay on the edge and not fall off of it.

are the custom machined pistons really gonna be much tougher than stock? or are you just looking at custom because you can change the bowl and valve reliefs?

Mostly to adjust the bowl for the change in shape of high performance nozzles, as well as higher RPM operation.

What's with Red Deer anyhow? I was there a few weeks ago and met Cam Kool....you guys have more toys and ambition than I would expect in a city 10x the size.
Back OT: who were you going to use to make pistons?

Hey,
I have one spare AHU TDI piston. It's in decent shape.
If that will help you out, email me at

Make sure you get the hardened steel ring seats in the pistons you are having made up... This is the biggest issue with forged aftermarket pistons besides having to run larger clearances. From what I have found changing stock pistons structure is the best solution besides getting Mahle to custom cast some. If you need some pistons customized let me know. I have done quite a few sets including some for the EU guys. One of them is at the 250WHP range right now trying to get to 280WHP with my 16:1CR setup.
