You'd need to change a couple major things to make that work. First, the tranny, that fits the 02A, not the 020. Second, you'd have the joy of finding all the associated computers and wiring that are needed to run it and adding them to your existing car and wiring harness. Does it include the computer and sensors, or would you have to find them somewhere else? Third, you'd have to add the fuel pump and filter assembly. Finally, and most importantly, you'd have to leave here and go hang out on the whoretex.
Seriously, you could give me that motor, and I'd sell it to buy a nice 1.9 head and turbo.

Did you get the block lifted out? Let me know if you need a hand.
Yeah i know it would be a PITA. 1200 does seem like a lot but it seems to have almost no miles on it?
Still waiting on the hoist.
Lots of work. We are thinking of dropping a VR into a MK2, You would need a complete donor car. because the cross members need to be changed, axels, clutch system, shifter linkages.
Lots of work man, Would look pretty sweet thou
Sooo many people put a vr into mk2s!
I've seen a very, very nice 24v VR6 in a swallowtail...
If I kill my motor too easily, I'll be going either 16VT or VR6T... they certainly do have some real sex appeal.
Like the others said, it is a fair bit of work to swap a VR6 into a diesel. Particularly a 24V. Cheap 12V VR's exist; that would be more sensible; much less electrical to run.
And as far as convincing you towards the diesel; you'll have it back on the road soon and for waay cheaper than a new swap. With a 1.9 block and your current turbo setup, it'll be faster than a stock VR6 anyway. And better on fuel. And way more unique/badass.
So you're looking at either a lot of work/money to turbo the VR or leave the VR stock and not really gain anything.
VR's are still awesome though

you won't kill an AAZ if you do the TDI crank gear mod.
I sure will if I'm running K14, K24 and HX35 turbo's in compound up to 70psi boost!
uhhh
how do you plan on fueling that disaster?

Sounds more like more turbine than engine at that point.
you have an engine to fuels a series of turbines that drive the car.
Either 2 pumps in parallel running into the same injection lines or a Bosch P7100 pump!
Ask me how I'm going to keep the charge air cool!

No, wait, I'll just tell you.
1st, Air/Water intercooler
2nd, FMIC
3rd, intercooler that's uses an A/C evaporator. Not sure exactly how that one will work out
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
ZOMG
Can you please me serious? i want to help you with this.
Think fuel cost... In the 36 weeks I've driven my diesel conversion, it cost $1200 in fuel, my other car would have cost $3600.... and that's at yesterdays fuel prices. They are only going to go us. Don't you think the reaction to BP's mess will be $4.00 / gallon of cheap gas ? At the OEM I work at, we are banking on the cost of fuel going up....
Not to mention with the V6 you can't run free fuel ( WVO, WMO, W-ATF, etc) in your mix.
Stay with us,,, don't go to the dark side !!!

Beside, I don't want to be the only one here running a Prothe 1.9TD head on my 1.6D.
