If you're getting horrible fuel mileage with your VW diesel, they let you off with a warning. (Just to keep on topic.)

I like to fly fish out the back hatch while getting good fuel mileage, if I wasn't catching fish I'd expect a ticket
A little more on topic, I'm running with no turbo and a 2.5" exhaust, we'll see if my mileage goes up from the 34-37mpg.

In a Mercedes SDL, I blew an injector line at 3 AM.
Since I was only 20 mi from my destination, I tanked up and hoped for the best.
Went through half a tank in 20 min
I think it works out to two MPG.

Nope thats my beast. 3 Ton Rollback truck. The Truck is a Big, and it takes alot of fuel and power to get it up to speed. and 3/4 of the time I got something on my bed and I'm booting it on the highway.

wow. i didnt know you could push that much fuel through a VW engine safely without something burning down. i have a close ratio trans also, but have 3.67 final drive. pretty sure yours is probably 3.94. but thats not going to make a 10 mpg difference all by its self. i had 2-3 people in my car all the time, and i still got over 30 mpg. and i was grossly exceeding the speed limit and all that stuff too. how do you get 19 out of a vw without breaking the law?
