I though I'd try something different.. It's always asked "How good of milage do you get", now let's see the other side.. Fuel leaks and mechanical failures don't count..
I'm talking about crazy mods and heavy feet...
My personal worst was about 34mpg in an 81 N/A 5 speed with the governor mod....
17 MPG. 1.9 with GTI transmission in a MK3. Straight pipe Exhaust.....Actually that was my Average MPG with that car
17?!?!?!?
My worst was 20 with my old cracked head. No compression meant it drank a lot of fuel.
They way it is now with the aaz head, 2.5 inch straight exhaust - split to in front of rear tires, gov, lots of fuel, boost pin at MAX i was getting between 28-35 and i was driving it like i stole it.
I'm thinking to reach 17 i need a bigger pump head!!! and a lift pump...
both things that are currently on my agenda
I can get 15MPG in the bus.
But that's an old air cooled flat 4.
In the IDI I got something near 30 once with a lot of idling in the winter. In the TDI something in the high 30's, again, a lot of idling in the winter.
when your reving at 3500 to 4000 RPM at 110 lol
In the flat red bunny after the gov mod and fuel screw I would consistantly get 38MPG...it sucked. I think the pump was going out though.
If you're sitting still with the engine running, you're getting zero miles per gallon.

I worked out something with a short test today.. with my 410k 81 running out of a graduated cylinder, at idle it burned 250ml in 20 minutes.. 12.5ml/minute OR 4.8ml every second. Those are some good numbers. So theoretically!!! you could idle for roughly 80 minutes on just one liter of fuel
lol

I had a Mustang once upon a time that 0mpg was actually good...

Don't you mean .208 ml/second?

Haha, yeah, we used to have a Chrysler Cordoba (minus the Corinthian leather, unfortunately) with a 440 in it. It was more useful to measure gallons per mile.
got about 34mpg, one time in my 04 TDI, but that was carrying two friends that weigh about 260 each, along with two sets of tools, each about 50 pounds, along with a set of 13" alloys, with tires, a cabby bumper, with tow bar setup. Oh yeah, and a rooftop clamshell, that had the rear beam, control arms, and all four struts for a rabbitGTI. I'm not gonna say exactly how fast our average speed was, but it wasn't slow.
We actually got about the same mileage when we bolted all the above mentioned parts to our race car shell, and towed it home.
First time I got less than 600 miles per tank...
worst i've ever had was 35mpg... basically stock aaz with fuel screw wound a ways in. no extra boost, no other mods.
worst i ever got n/a was about 38mpg in a 1.5 n/a mk1.
i can get about 30 with a smoke screen behind me in my rabbit with an AUG
i can get about 30 if i baby the hell out of it in my gas GTI w/ the ACN
i cant justify keeping a gas engine in there, it has less power and gets worse mileage.
