Guys,
In relation to my 1.9L D > TD conversion. I was under the car today and noticed the back of my block has in the casting, 1.9 D/ TD.
Its a 1997 engine.
Is it possible this 1.9D has under piston cooling ?

Yes they use the same block. You just need all of the parts to put on the outside.

Yes the block is the same i'm quite sure, but as for the oil cooling jets, i am unsure. I havent pulled the pan yet to check, but i think it is very unlikely it has them.
I would have pulled it and checked sooner, but i'm not at that stage in the project and i'm not draining £30 of oil to check something that if in place or not, would stop the K03 going on. But i would be very pleased if they where there.
If anyone knows for sure if the jets are in this block, i'd be more than greatful if you could let me know.
But if they where in place, it would just seem so wrong wouldnt it !

does it still have the turbo oil return port in the back of the block? if it does than i would believe that it should also have the oil jets

Where the drain back should be bolted up, is a drilled and tapped hole that hasnt went right through into the block. So no, it doesnt have an operative / blanked off oil return. I'm using a 1.6L GTD pan with drain-back for this.

even if it doesnt have the jets in the block couldnt you do like BMW does now and drill a small hole on the top of the rod by the rod journal and have it directed at the piston to cool it, you would also need to drill the rod bearing so that oil would go through your hole in the rod
just food for thought if you really wanted oil cooled pistons
