What brand are you folks using for valves, and where do you get them?

I was not impressed with the head folks quoting me $300 + today, for rebuild (I provide the lifters)

The only valves I could find were TRW $17.50ea, but head shop won't use them, as they are never round (so they say)

I might have to stick with my NA's, valves are only $4.00 (italian made)

$295 for Hyd or Mech? (sorry, I note in the pic it is a Mech)

same joint, I've used them for years, and many heads, and sent many folks their way.  Prices have increased, used to get Mech for $225 and Hyd for $350.  Now $295 for mechs, so I expect $425 for Hyd.

I like their work, and working with them, but... I currently have 3 heads there, and don't have $900 in my grocery fund, and my wages are less than in 1993 (but property taxes are 10x)

Hey, do you know where ur head shop got the pre-combustion chamber from. When i rebuilt my head for my 1.6L Mech. Turbo Diesel I had to pay $300 cdn. for the chambers alown and that didnt include the work and the rest of the head. i ended up paying $750 for everything and i thought that was cheap!!
Thanks for all the help!

When I gat my last TD head done at Aluminum Head Rebuilders they could no longer find the TD chambers so they had to use the old ones. This was about 6mos ago. Maybe things have changed.

any idea exactly what these guys do about the cracks between the valve seats and relative quality of the repair?
