Bosch injection pump throttle damper?

I have not had an opportunity to play with a governor linkage like that with a damper, but if I understand correctly, it delays movement of the throttle input lever to the governor inside the pump relative to the throttle lever you control with your foot.  In that case, for a performance application, you might want to try running without it.  I think you might then find that you have more power (probably with a bit more smoke too) when you suddenly mash down on the throttle, and you might find that the turbo also spools up quicker.    Good luck!

hey guys

yes you're right about the damper it's designed to make sure u don't
have any black smoke on sudden acceleration.

I have noticed on almost all of the pumps that i rebuild in my shop
that the damper is not dampning any more. it is a vw part and i'm
pretty sure it's not cheap.

i would also just leave it alon or remove it totally.

Yeah I dont think mine is damping any more it sounds like a knackered boot strut.

I would have thought they'd be available from Bosch? as they make the pumps anyway.
