hello
anyone has pics of this engine?
i know is a +2cilinder version of the 1.6 but nothing more...
how is he mounted, motor mounts location...
how hard it would be to put it on a golf?
not that i am going to do it...for now
If you were to put it in a Golf, you'd need an adapter plate and an extra foot of car width. Or lose a front tire. Waay too long for a transverse setup.
you must cut the front of the car, and put a audi 80 tdi gear box

my 2 centīs
how much cutting?
ever saw one of these mounted?
if someday the 1.6 gives away i am tempted to do something with more displacement than 1.9...
and the sound of the 6 in-line is beautiful!
From tail to nose (Bellhousing mating surface to crank pulley) the 6-cylinder D24 engine is ~68.6cm in length, or 27 inches in the customary system.
So again... I don't really think you'd be able to cram it under the hood of a Golf. Not without seriously damaging the structure of the car with how much metal you have to take out of the side wall.
the only way it'd be possible is to put in the back of a caddy or something, and if you're going to go through all that work, you might as well put something worthwhile back there like a 4bt or a 6bt out of a dodge lol
Bizzare subject for the newbie to have to chime in on, but:
Forget the RWD 6 cyl 2.4, it was a PITA for head sealing and cracking, and is way too long. However, if your REALLY want a big-engined Golf diesel, consider the 2.5 TDI 5 banger. It WILL fit (barely), but you must use the European Volvo FWD gearbox (from this same engine). So, the way to do it is to find a complete donor Volvo TDI in Europe and have someone send over everything that isn't a body panel or interior part. The engine, is, of course, 100% VWAG.
