I was just wondering if anyone knows of a source for new complete VW 1.9 diesel engines? I know that ZS Imports offers them in the states , but is there a similar source here in Canada?

The only problem is that it's in the USA and the price is in American dollars..then add duty, and the deal isn't there.

yea very true... duty and customs are ridiculous... i wonder how cheap it would be to drive there and pick it up... customs shouldn't be too much??

at least i would know the motor has aroudn 100'000km and is known to be good and running (and the supplier isn't on another continent....)

Not all the prices are great, or else I got great deals.

Makes me glad I paid $3100 including shipping for my 1.9 TD, thanks again Deep Mud,  and $475 for a new head after overheating riuned my other one. Maybe you Canadians should go scour the junkyards and start selling engines to those who can't find them. I could get a TDI in Colorado for $2100 with wiring harness and ecu, but at the time, I didn't know they could be converted to mechanical. I don't remember the mileage on it though. My 1.9 had under 40k miles.

i want to find a nice pump deuse engine... PD130 preferrably.  i would pay $5000 if everything was included.  the tranny would cost about $2000 or so alone.. since they're VW.. $7000 for PD economy and performance!!!

i would buy a brand new vw, but insurance would kill me... as well as regular maintenance needing to be done by a reputable shop... and the fact that brand new cars de-value as soon as you start driving them.  plus not to mention that i would always be worried about someone scratching my paint!!!
