I have a 1986 jetta turbo diesel 1.6l

i am looking to purchase a low km 5 speed manual transmition or rebuilt. do not need a clutch i have a new one. And if no one has one what is the going rate for one.

Where are you located?
They usually sell for 75(untested) to 300+ for low kms

BYM, $75? Man, sign me up!

I did a quick check of some salvage yards around here (I thought I might need one last fall) and they want between $300 and $500 for one.

If you can get them at that price up your way, I might just have to get one sent down (shipping not a huge problem) just in case.

I also have a tranny for sale. A 5 speed FO tranny, low miles, (around 100k), came off of a 79 1.5 diesel motor...so you know it never saw alot of beating. Smoothest shifting 020 I have ever had. Only reason I'm getting rid of it is to fund an 02a swap for my mTDI setup

The FO is a nice tranny, I wish I had kept mine. I think I accidently sold it.

$75 is for an untested mk1.
$100 is for an untested mk2.

You would need a mk3 right?
