Does any one here know where I could get my injector pump rebuilt? I live in Oregon and would like to keep it as close to home as possible.

Really? My Bentley's tells me not to even consider that and has no instructions to do anything but R&R. It says parts are not available from VW and it takes special tools. I wouldn't mind tackling it if it were something I thought I could pull off. I'm assuming it must be or you wouldn't be suggesting it. How?

There's a good post around here showing how to take a pump apart... it might be linked to in the FAQs.
Take a look and see if you think you have the skills to do it.
There might be some links to the bosch service centers in there.
Thanks for posting troubleshooting issues in the troubleshooting forum.

I really wouldn't rebuild it myself. I used to work in a fuel shop where we rebuilt injectors, pumps and turbos. It takes alot of specialized tools. They also put the pump on a test stand to calibrate them. If its only a simple gasket i might do it, but anything more i'd take it to a fuel shop.

I'm OK with that also. I've got a spare that I think I will try rebuilding to see if I can do it, but I'd just as soon let the pros do the one I want to use right now so I've got some degree of confidence in it. My problem is, is there anyplace on the U.S. west coast I can get it to for rebuilding? I've noticed a place in Canada mentioned on this forum and will go that route if I have to, but I'd like to keep it closer to home if I can.

also seems to come with instructions and the special tool to open the pump!
I have one of those kits sitting on my dresser. They are a few bucks cheaper if you buy right off of his website
http://www.emiata.com/DieselVW/It doesn't come with instructions though, Just a ziplock bag full of seals, crush washers, special tool and injector line port covers. Should be a fun winter project for me, I'll take lots of pictures

Hey burn-your-money, I wondered when you'd check in. I checked out the web sites you and jtanguay sited. Is this the same injector pump I've got in my '82 rabbit pickup? This guy seems confident the average guy can do the job. I'd really like to try it to see if I can. I found a fuel shop in northern Oregon that rebuilds injection pumps, but they're closed for Christmas. AdAm84, you made the difference. I wasn't looking for "fuel shops" and as soon as I did, there it was. I didn't know to word it that way. They advertise that they'll rebuild any injection pump for $250.00. Is that a good price?

The Kit on ebay are chinese kit, that is worth 3.50$us and it is cheap, the seal are soft and are not all the good dimenssion, the pump will leak after 2 months, the distributor head o-ring is not well adapted, it is too fine and not seal properly.
An original kit Bosch here in Quebec that costs approximately 25$ CAN at diesel ADF, If not, it have there Smog which sells original of it.

sorry for delay, I've been 'studying' (back to college after 30 yrs in the trenches)
Diesel Fuel Injection Service
1700 Southeast Grand Avenue, Portland, OR 97214
(503) 239-1547
Northern Factors Corporation
PO Box 4348, Portland, OR 97208
(503) 283-5615
BTW, I'd really like to learn to do this myself, and build a test / calibration stand. I have about 10-15 pumps that could use a fix

$250 sounds reasonable. I wasn't really involved with billing when i worked in one. But if it needs more than what the rebuild kit includes your bill will definitly be more(such as head and rotor, housing, ect.) A good fuel shop should be able to do injectors IPs and turbo's. basicly a one stop shop for us diesel guy's
