I'm interested in some sort of intake for my na any body have any sugg.? I recall mrsharkeys intake for his EV pusher where the intake did a 180 and pulled air from the rain tray area.
I would be interested in this too...
I have been meaning to do something with
the intake on the na....
The raintray with give really good flow...
it is just the water...... how to solve that
issue..... I am thinking about making something
out of aluminum.... like thin... that is bent on
a carpenters break.... to form a piece of duct work.......
this could say be bolted or screwed on...
I haven't seen Sharkey post in a LONG LONG time... wish he was around
There are a variety of ways to do it. If you look, I believe Roger Brown's "Caddyshack" site has what he did for a "ram air" style intake with fairly little cost in materials at all. Good stuff... its the 4crawler website I believe. Maybe he'll chime in.

imo the n/a intake is pretty nice it just needs a much larger snorkel since it was designed to make the engine quieter instead of making it more powerful, i would either put a mk2 n/a intake on or just put a much larger snorkel on whats already there
Well i like the idea of going up front to get cold air. But not with the factory snorkel. I cut a hole in an airbox lid i had layin around i'm in the process of makin one like mrsharkeys. But any how my EGTs dropped quite a bit all around with the elimination of the factory snorkel. Yes its louder but after i make the rest of the intake i will see what it sounds like. heres sharkeys wesite. scroll about 1/2 way down to see the intake picture.

Yeah, Sharkey's
Idea is cool...... I guess it is under the tray
so it gets no water.....
Yeah, Keep us posted on how loud it is...
looks like he used rubber ferno 90s and
some 3" abs pipe and a maybe a 22 degree
bend into the firewall.
here ya go....
this is on my 1.5 n/a. its all 80mm PVC, cheap easy, reliable, quick sefl supporting.... etc etc

really, this works incredibly well
dont be scared to cut out the original hole in the airbox.... i used some steel sheet and bent up a new pipe to take the 80mm pvc, simply riveted into the plastic and sealed with silicone (then painted over).
also, on/off with one screw. at hte front, the pipe which appears to go into the side of the rediator does face that way, but is cut at 45deg to make a large opening that gets air from the front, and infront of the radiator.
cheers

oh and noise....
at the moment, mine is quite loud and growly (actually quite mean sounding) at about 3000-3500rpm. if i take OFF the last 90 deg bent that gets it to the very front, i get no induction noise at all. no pipe and i get a nice loud drone all the way through the rev range

He's been busy being a TV star. I caught him on the idiot box the other night.
Check out episode 2 of "Cool Fuel Roadtrip". (All but unwatchable series... hosted by an obnoxious Aussie who really needs to get stung by a ray IMHO).
