Blower removal
« on: December 05, 2006, 06:45:52 am »
The heater blower on my 91 NA is making some noises, like it would respond well to some lubrication, at least.
I don't have a Bentley, and the Haynes is less than worthless.
Where is the heater blower located on these things?
Left or right side of the passenger side footwell?
Access from the bottom, or facing the passengers legs behind the bolster?

Its getting pretty cold, and I'd like to access it with a minimum of jerking around.
Patient has dealer installed A/C, if that helps.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Mark

You don't have to take the dash out. It's almost behind the glove box. I can take mine out in about 10 seconds with no tools. You just turn it counter clockwise to unlock it but I think there is probably a screw up in there somewhere that never got put back in mine that might have to come out.

Nothing needs to come out, you just have to pull the right front corner of the carpet down a bit.  The motor is in the round plastic housing hanging down, there is a plastic latch you push, then it rotates about 45 degrees and drops free except for electrical connector.

Actually, it might not be carpet, but some other kind of vinyl under dash cover stuff....

Especially when its 15 degreesF, and I'm working outside.
Many thanks for your responses.
