Is it worth converting 1.6 NA to turbo

I have an mk2 1.6 NA Golf. the engine has some blowby and consumes oil, IP just rebuilt with new nozzles set to 130 bar.
Ive sourced the inlet and exhaust manifolds for the turbo and LDA IP too, and planning to turbo it during the engine rebuild. Would the engine hold up if it does not have the oil squirters for cooling the pistons?

if you install an intercooler you should be fine as long as you dont run too much boost

exactly, take it easy on the engine and it should hold up. Get the turbo vavles though when you rebuild it

best thing you'll ever do is turbo the engine, more power and the turbo makes the car quieter and you'll get better mpg if you baby the throttle.......remember before factory vw td's..there were alot of companies making turbo kits for the 1.5 and 1.6 N/A engines such as BAE and Callaway. I had a callaway and it ran flawless the whole time I owned it.
There are 2 things you must have in a turboed n/a engine. 1. is an EGT temp gauge..most important 2. a big air to oil, oil cooler. If money is tight, go to the junkyard and pull the complete setup off a volvo 740 turbo...one of the best oil cooler setups period...big setrab oil cooler, thermostatically controlled adapter and it fits right on a vw and your oil temp will stay right around 200F...just hot enough to burn off the h20 in the oil.

I completed the upgrade with the early MK2 KKK K14 turbo
used a mitsubishi oil cooler, with an adapter from a deutz paver machine.
on opening the engine I found the bore to be intact with broken rings and bent valves, new rings sat with a gap of 0.4mm
the head was refurbed and TD precombustion chambers inserted along with TD valves with new guides.
i would suggest to use liqui moly carbon cleaner to clean your engine parts, one spray and the age old cooked carbon washed off - I could even see the machine marks on certain parts.
the results are quite good - the engine tends to pull this little car like mad after adjusting the new LDA pump

if you have stock fueling and boost an egt probe is completely unnecessary, i know people that have done 10's of thousands of miles on turboed n/a motors, they can take it.

I found a busted and cracked turbodiesel head at a wrecker (thats where I got my manifolds) - took out the precombustion chambers - gave them to a friend of mine who has a parts shop - he brought back 4 identical units claiming they were some obsolete nissan ones. worked for me.
I'll ask him to get some more.
now im planning to install oil nozzles under the pistons - I did that once on a toyota 2C (corolla diesel engine) when I converted it to turbo. Anyone have any lying around so I could buy them.
